Financial aid alone isn’t enough. Students need mentorship. That’s why our Empowerment Program provides guidance, role models, academic and career support, and spiritual development to our STARs, Girl Child Club members, and students in schools and churches in our surroundings. The result? Over 90% move on to higher education. We don’t just fund futures — we build them.
I was born and raised in a small village in Machakos County, Kenya. I remember the red dust roads, the long walks to school, and the dreams we carried in our hearts even when our hands were empty.
As a young adult, I left home to pursue my studies in the United States. That journey opened my eyes — not just to new opportunities, but to how much privilege I had been given. Education became my bridge out of poverty.
When I returned home, my heart broke. The same friends I had played with as a child were still trapped. Their children were walking the same dusty roads, facing the same empty stomachs, the same faded hopes. Temporary aid had come and gone. Nothing had truly changed.
That’s when I knew: I had to do more than feel sad. I had to act.
Nelson Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Those words became my calling.
In 2018, Elevate A Child Charitable Trust was born — not out of charity, but out of love. Out of memory. Out of a promise to the children who remind me of myself.
Today, Elevate A Child educates, rescues, mentors, and empowers. Not for survival — for thriving. Not for pity — for purpose. This is how children rise — with dignity, with hope, with a future.
